Breastfeeding does help ward off a period (hence ovulation) in many women, but it should not be used solely as a birth control method. If you've had one period since he's been born, you could be pregnant again. Take a test. Menstruation can be erratic during breastfeeding. I got pregnant mistakely 9 months after my son was born, after having my first period since his birth, and while breastfeeding. The birth control effects do lessen as your baby gets older, too. Good luck, and use another form of contraception if you are not pregnant and don't want to be...

your period can come and go while breast feeding, however you should go ahead and take a pregnancy test to find out if you are or not right now. your husband is "careful?" does that mean he is actually using a condom, or depending on the completely unreliable methods of rhythm or pulling out?
whether you are having a regular period or not, you need to use some actual method of birth control, because YES you can get pregnant while breastfeeding. talk to your ob/gyn about what types are safe for you to use.

Your period may come and go for a while. So don't stress about pregnancy.
My baby is 4 months, and I am breastfeeding with no period. So, I empathize with you on that fear of being pregnant already. We use extra precaution just so I won't worry.
Best of luck!

This is a tricky one! Some women believe because they don't have their periods so they can't get pregnant! But you can. Just because there's no actual menstruation occuring, you still ovulate. That's all it takes is the sperm to meet with that egg when you ovulate and you're off to the races again!
If I were you and you aren't ready for another pregnancy right away, use another form of birth control..whether it be condoms or a birth control pill. The 'regular' birth control pills aren't usually prescribed, I believe it's called 'micronor'--the birth control pill my dr put me on while i breastfed. You don't get your periods with this pill, but you also don't get pregnant. After I finished breastfeeding I switched back to my normal pill.
Good luck with this!

Question to ask your gynecologist. The reason I say this is because every woman is different. Some women get pregnant soon after having a baby and others do not for at least 3months to 1 year after the birth.

I'm pretty sure that once you get it, you've got it. Are you sure it was your period that you got? How long has it been since you gave birth? It might be worth it to get a pregnancy test or call your doctor. If you are pregnant again and your baby is still pretty new, there are some additional health concerns and you should get care asap.

Well if you got it last month then you should be getting one this month. Lots of things will throw your period off but to be on the safe side just take a home test.

I got my cycle when baby was three months.
It never went away until I was pregnant with the next baby
If you havent been using protection or birth control I would take a test or go to the Dr. :)

Not getting pregnant while breast feeding is an old wives tale. You have your period which means you're ovulating again so, yes, you can get pregnant.
