If I can only include guards in the NBA( which is a good idea so you dont get some guy like Dwight Howard that would just pick him up and thrown Bryant somewhere), I do not think that anyone can beat Kobe one on one in the NBA. Kobe can defend, he is tall for a SG, he is the most effiecent scorer in the NBA. When your playing one on one it is about making your own shot and knowone can do that better than Kobe. Most of the great talents in the NBA need someone to get them ball, or a great for their abilties to pass or move without the ball, these things are not involved in one on one ball. Kobe wouldbeat aby guard out there. The closest game I can think of however would be aginst T Mac( when healthy). T mac is built like Kobe( long for his position) and has a similar game( when it comes to scoring). But in the end, Kobe is better at his game and TMacs game than Tmac is, and Kobe would win. Vince Carter, Rip Hamiltion, Marbury, and Gilbert are also great player but the would not beat Kobe for the reason that I stated before. Watch the all star game over again from this year. Kobe matched up every player that was attempting to guard him and he scored on them. Those were the best players on the east( Guards and SF's were on him). The West coast guard beside T MAC, would not even pose a fight.

I actually think the best match-up would be Arenas. Lebron plays horrid defense and I think that would be no match up at all. And someone said he was "too small and weak" for kobe? Kobe is 6'6 220 and Arenas is 6'4 210. Thats not that much bigger. 2 inches is not that enormous of an advantage with guards. Especially these two who like to drive alot. And since it is 1 on 1 you are going to want to get inside shots more than shoot threes. I think th ey are both quite equal in b all handling, but kobe might have a slight advantage in a pull up jumper when D-ed well. I think Gilbert could win 4 or 5 out of 10 on kobe.

They will be a few matchup with Kobe. Many guards are too small and weak to handle Kobe. One i see that can match up and have chance of winning a couple of time out of 10 matches will be lebron james. This guy has the strength and the speed and the length to guard kobe. On offense he can bang on Kobe a lil bit but at the end kobe will win. For people saying Gilbert Arenad that could be interest, no doubt kobe will win. Kobe will take on him with his size and strength can overcome arenas.

Beat him today?
People who could beat him:
D Wade
T-Mac
Gilbert Arenes
Vince Carter
Allen Iverson
Paul Pierce
All the players above have the skills to beat Kobe. Would they beat him every time. No, and Kobe wouldn't beat these guys 100 percent of the time either. Is Kobe the best player in the NBA, No, could he be No. Why, because of his attitude. That is going to hold him back.

Iverson to quick for kobe. Notice that Kobe Bryant will never guard Iverson in a game because he don't want to get embarrassed. this is "The Answer" to your Q:

No one.
if anyone can probably Lebron or Wade. When it comes to killer instinct and clutch shooting there is no one in the league currently that measures up to kobe. All time, Jordan. But no one in today's game.

My possible answer to your question is D. Wade or A.I. They are too quick for Kobe and have more chances of winning than losing.
