Ive got a venus flytrap and since i bought it in the summer it seems to have grown loads more pods which have then turned black and seemed to have died. Its recently sprouted two long stems neerly 45cms long with white flowers on the end. It seems to be growing realy well but the stems are getting a bit out of control. What is happening and does it need re-potting? Everyone else i know thats had one it hasnt lasted a month but it semms to be thriving at the mo. Help

Venus' Fly Trap lives in peaty, boggy soil with few nutrients. That's why they have evolved to feed on insects. They must NEVER be allowed to dry out, and always water them with either rainwater or freezer defrost water, never use tap water. They prefer temperatures between 12 degrees C to 28 degrees C. In winter they die down (also the traps die off when they have digested the flies). If looked after they can live for years. They do not need transplanting as they do not have or need big roots. Also, one fly or insect twice a week will keep it happy.

Is it getting plenty of flies to eat, I had one, it dies as your friends did after about a month but I did hear that the biggest problem is flies or lack of them. Its still quite cold here and there are not too many flies around. I'm in UK.
Are you watering it too mch? the new pods going black sounds like rotting but I could be wrong.

Venus Fly capture flowers are actually not pets any further than a poultry and Chicks plant is. They advance terrific in low nitrogen soil. that's the reason they consume insects. you may mail organize them for not very lots. Feed it little bits of uncooked hamburg in case you have not have been given insects.
