this isn't a question. it's a guarantee. give me your thoughts. i personally can't wait to see what all you trashy white sox fans(who more than likely were cubs fans until they won the series, or are just bandwagoners) have to say about this prediction

petree33 - i apologize for calling you trashy, you appear to be one of the few who make up a small percentage of good, average white sox fans.

chad k - i put down the glue but for some reason am still seeing pink elephants. funny thing is i thought this about the royals long before i started sniffing glue today.

here's a few names that you probably don't know that you will by the end of the season(or even the all-star break)

Alex Gordon - ROY
Mark Teahen - All-Star
Ryan Shealy - all-around B.A.

Zack Greinke will also be in the running for an All-Star game roster spot

the Royals will have two 15-game winners

and Dotel will save AT LEAST 30 games this season

John H - thanks for the input, but i respectfully disagree. it could be that i'm blind to the truth due to my fan-ness(pretty sure that's not a word), but i like to dream of the royals winning 80 games this year

aahhhh, i knew it was a matter of time before some angry white sox fan would respond to this question. and you're right, buddy I am from Iowa, and when i was in college there was nothing i hated more in iowa city than the explosion of white sox 'fans' from illinois after they won the series. i kicked a few big-mouthed, fast talking southside chicago boy's asses before for saying less than accusing me of being a wnba fan. as i recall it's chicago with the wnba team, not anywhere in iowa(go ahead and make fun of us for not having a professional team, it's us that support the surrounding teams). do us all a favor and keep the IQ level lower on your side of the river by staying as far from us as possible, see your illini in football season

Last season the Royals had one position player that played as many as 135 games. No team in baseball could have withstood the number of injuries the Royals had last season.

Four of the 9 positions will have better players this season.(DH=#9)

Almost the entire pitching staff is different than the one they left camp with last season. Dotel is not going to blow 31 saves like the "closer" did last season.

I'm looking at 75-87

Dejesus - BA-295 - 12-HR
Grudzielanek - BA-297 - 5-HR
Teahen - BA-305 - HR-26
Sweeney - BA-290 - HR-22
Gordon - BA-292 - HR-21
Brown - BA-291 - HR-17
Shealy - BA-270 - HR-16
Buck - BA-240 - HR-10 - LaRue BA-245 - HR-8
SS=? Gonzalez(maybe) BA-245 HR-8

Most of those #'s I'm pretty solid with, Sweeney is the big IF>when he's healthy he's one of the best hitters in the game< This is the final season of a big contract he signed 5 years ago< Amazing how guys seem to stay "healthy" and put up big numbers when millions are on the line :-)

The starting pitching should be better than last season >tough to be worse< It will hurt if Luke Hudson is out for months! - The bullpen will be much better -

80 wins 90 wins, it doesn't matter because the Royals still won't make to the post season. The White Sox should win the Central, with the wild card going to either Detroit, Cleveland and Minnesota.

And you obviously dont know anything about chicago sports. There is no such thing as a use to be Cubs fan turn Sox fan. Its usually the other way around.

I'm a huge Royals fan and I would love to see that happen. I was thinking a 75 win season. If Dotel gets 30 saves and we can actually hold a lead after the sixth inning, 80 wins is reachable. I think I saw a stat that we blew 37 leads after the 6th inning last year. If they cut that in number in half, the Royals are an 80 win team.

I would say 70-75 wins, maybe 80 but not over 80 and not enough to get into the playoffs. They paid 55 million dollars for Gil Meche who was barely in Seattle's rotation, last time I checked the Mariners aren't knocking on playoffs door either. Alex Gordon is a great player and would be Rookie of the Year but probably won't be since Daisuke "Dice-K" Matsuzaka will be considered a rookie and probably the front runner to win the award. As for Shealy, I wouldn't count on him to be the guy that turns around the franchise, he isn't as good as Mike Sweeney. I do like Luke Hochever, the guy will be nasty and probably will be in your rotation by season's end. I do think in a few years the Royals could be last years Detroit Tigers, as long as they keep their young core of players, just not going to happen in 2007, not with Octavio Dotel as your closer.

They have shown signs of getting better at a gradual pace. They won 56 in 2005 and 62 in 2006. Can they win 80+ in 2007? That's a big jump. I could see them pulling off 75 max which is a 13 game improvement from 2006.

Them winning 80+ games in that division this year would take some very remarkable pitching from their staff.

There is absolutely no chance of that happening. The Royals are in the toughest division in baseball. Detroit is the defending AL champ. Minnesota is the defending division champ. Chicago is just two years removed from a World Series title. Cleveland is one of the best young teams in the majors. So, Kansas City will win 80 games?? No. They won't even make it to 70 wins.

Stick to the WNBA sister. You have no clue about Sox fans, or baseball in general. You do have one thing right - there will be an all-star from Kansas City. Than again, every team has to have a player, so fine. You WNBA fans - crazy girls!! What are you - from Iowa or something??

They've made some moves that gives the appearance that they finally want to win, but I don't see it happening this season. I think 80 is a stretch because that's nearly .500 ball, and they play in a very tough AL Central. It's a great goal, but 70-75 is more realistic. What I do believe is that they'll avoid the dreaded 100 loss mark.

I think you should put down the glue. I am a Twins fan and speaking on that division the Royals will be last again. They don't have the pitching to win 80.

2007-03-28 13:37:38 · answer #9 · answered by Chad K 7 · 2 0

They don't have the slightest chance in hell.
The Royals are a bad team, and the need to win quite a lot against some pretty solid teams (Yanks, Sox of both colors, A's, Mets and about another 20 teams)
