I don't think an animal could be labeled "good" or "bad," since they work off of instinct and not morality. However, I don't think that pitbulls in general are tame enough to have as pets. The only one I knew was very threatening. It had killed goats and chickens in the neighbor's yard (I'd like to see a cocker spaniel do that!). Knowing how violent that breed naturally is toward other animals, I would never want one near me or my family. If it can kill a goat, it can kill a kid.

I like them, but i don't trust them. A very special owner is needed for this breed, as any real trainer will tell you. I won't let my dog anywhere near them until I know the owner.

But I do applaud you for saving the little guys life and taking the time to get in touch with a trainer.

Every dog is different. It all depends on how they are raised.
I have been around Cocker Spainels all of my life and I have never had an issue with them

Just watch him around your visitors and see how he acts and then go from there.

As far as me liking pits, they are not a dog that fits my personality

To find more information on pits do a web search on pit bulls and that will bring up all of the information that you need

Good Luck!!!

I don't like dogs or cats. I have two kids and that's enough poop for me to clean up. I will be darned if I have to clean up after a animal too. But that's nice that you saved him and fed him and got him back to good health. I think its the way you train a dog is what makes them mean. I know people with pits and there dog are calm. But then I know a few that have them just to fight.

you have to understand that they were originally bred to be fighting/attack dogs. It is in their nature to fight. They are aggressive dogs. I would not have a child around one. I have seen the sweetest pitbull to turn on a child in a second. Trust me, you do not want to see this. Poor kid will survive, but he will have scars on him for the rest of his life and probably be afraid of dogs. Too risky if you ask me.

Get a dog that is bred for a different reason. Granted all dogs will snap at a kid, but a pitbull wil tear the kid apart. The others will give a warning bite.

I've been bitten twice, but I still don't blame them. They are not like other dogs, they are not for everyone. An owner has to take true responsibility of the animal and recognize that the animals are short tempered and dangerous. They are great to their owners though. My brother has always had one ever since he was a kid. It is a one person dog.

All dogs start out ok, it's the way they're trained. I knew a part pit who was a very nice dog, though smelly. I blame that on the owner though. She didn't bathe the dog any more often than she did her kids (euwwwww).
