i saw this on you tube and it astonished me.i know it would spoil the trick but how the hell does he do that.

Not 100% sure.
I'm certain that when he first gets into the box a switch of some kind takes place.
The rear half IS a person - some one who is able to contort their body VERY well - The table & box bottom would be enough to hide someone.
I did notice that they made a point of NOT turning the two halves round so you could see 'the soggy' ends. So I guess if you did it would help you solve the trick.
