I have Verizon Online Dsl for my main service provider and we have two computers in our house. The main one with the modem is down stairs, and I am using a Westell Wireless adapter. My Mbps seem to be low most of the time so is there an easy way I can speed it up, or is comcast an alternative?

Remember that Mbps (Megabits per second) is different from MBps (Megabytes per second). There are 8 bits in one byte, so if you want to figure out your exact downloading speed as shown by the download speed on the screen, take the speed of your connection and divide by 8 (that is the maximum speed). Likewise, you can figure out the amount of bits per second by taking the speed shown on the screen and multiplying by 8.

Anyway, to improve your speed you will need to buy a faster package or switch to a different company that provides faster speeds.

Buy faster internet...

Or try using a download manager when you download files, it will open up more than one connection to the server so it may go a little faster...
