By that same standard why don't liberals pay all of the taxes that go to the people on welfare since they are the compassionate ones that care about the poor?

Well I'm not in Iraq because I have a bad knee so I went to college, got some degrees and got a good job instead.

I worked a full-time job while I was in college and paid for 100% of it on my own. Not even one loan.

lol, good answer. I guess the reason they tell us this is because they want us to die. What a wonderful, peaceful group of people, eh?

I think its becuase republicans tend to be hawkish. So the theory goes, if you are so hawkish and want to fight, why don't you go? Look at those who have pushed the Iraq war-- very few actually served or saw combat, yet they're willing to send others to war.
I'm not in that camp btw-- just trying to explain.
Caring for the poor is a national issue we will always have. Repubs also preach compassionate conservatism but don't seem to show compassion in that regard.

Ok, it's a deal, but you guys have to pay to take care of the people on welfare in Iraq, since your President is the one who bombed them out of their houses and jobs.

Because in their own demented, sick, twisted minds they feel that that then justifies their "point". In their ill thought out logic, they have joined the snivelling, cowering, protesters, - so we should join the Army !
I also fully support our Firefighters, so should I go and join the Fire Department ??? But then, I support our Police, - oh, - now I have to go and join the Police Department ?? and so on.....
The truth is, and was illustrated very well in the last Presidential election, that the vast majority (95% +) of sevice men and woman abroad, ARE conservatives / republicans.
And, anyway - what the hell is some hippy leftist gonna do in Iraq ? - Put a flower in Habib's backpack bomb ???

mr_white_theinsecure_american is all talk. He claims he is an Air Force veteran but freely admits he never left the United States while serving. In the Corps we had a name for these types, REMF's, mr white knows he is a supreme REMF (rear echelon mf'rs). They were always "in the rear with the gear".

We say that because when a group of people are advocating war from the comfort of their recliner chair at home, they need to be verbally slapped around until they realize that lipservice helps no one.
I gladly turn over my tax dollars to help my fellow Americans. But at the same time, I have no control over taxation in this country.
You, on the other hand, could actually sign up with one of the branches of the military and put your nuts where your mouth is.

Such blanket statements seem to blanket this whole site....
The reason that Liberals tell Republicans to go fight in the war is because the people fighting in the war aren't Republicans, nor their children. It is ALWAYS the poor who fight in the war.
And Liberals pay taxes just like everyone else - oh, except the Republicans.......

I don't tell Republicans to go fight in Iraq. It's none of my business what you do.
But I'd guess they do it because the truest way to support a war is to engage in it.
Welfare isn't a loan. I already pay enough into welfare; why should I have to pay more than you do?

It is odd. because most of the people in the military are conservatives. So it IS the repubs / conservatives joining the military.
Not everyone is able to. I would have 5 years ago but because of bad disc in my neck I dont qualify.

The liberals consider themselves the "ruling elite" that looks @ the general population as being unable to control their lives without their "wisdom" & influence. They then exempt themselves from their own sets of rules for they are "good people" who know best for us. The "war on poverty" & "The Great Society" are collosal failures that have cost the American taxpayer trillions of $$ & the poverty level in the U.S. is still @ the same level as it was in 1964. The $$ amount of national debt is very very close to the $$ wasted on welfare entitlements.
