My husband married me for a visa, something I learned much too late. He planned to divorce me from the beginning and a year ago started provoking me by various means hoping i would initiate divorce. He started being abusive and threatening to see other women and then saved every response in emails and chats as evidence. Isn't this entrapment and invasion of privacy ? The case is in Turkey but i wondered how the law here works.

I am refusing divorce because it's justice. His mother is arranging a marriage secretly for my husband. I'm north american so you can imagine how this sticks in my throat. He's not going to just walk away unscathed after what he did to me. Long story.

Entrapment is illegal but entrapment is defined differently by different people and probably by different countries. My advice is to document EVERYTHING your husband does or says (dates, times, attitudes, and words) make hard copies of e-mails. The laws in Turkey probably differ greatly from those in the US but you have no chance to win over him unless you have proof of how is provoking you.. Don't answer any more e-mails with things that could be used against. Use common sense. I can't imagine why you care if he files for divorce. Heaven knows he sounds like a bad husband. Try to get enough evidence so you can file for divorce. Normally the person doing the filing has the upper hand in the case.

I worked in the High Court in London, and the Family Court for a year. You can tell as many lies as you want during a divorce case. However if someone suspects you are lying they can appeal against the final decision, and this will ultimately lead to the case being heard again - more cost, more time. If on the other hand it is you that wants to lie, I would think very carefully about whether the people in the room will know, and have proof that what you are saying is a lie. If they do, they can appeal against the final decision. This process does take a long long time. Normally when you testify during the case you will be expected to provide evidence to prove what you are saying is true, i.e. if Mr. A says Mrs. A beat him up with a pole, the court will ask for evidence - hopsital records, photos, etc. Let me know if you need anymore information, I have a lot of experience with family cases.

Entrapment is when you get some to do something illegal so you can catch them doing something illegal. This does not apply as he is performing the actions and as cheating is not illegal.
