My son is almost 7 months and I've started giving him some of the 2nd stage foods already. I have a little pamphlet/mag from Gerber that tells you what age to start which types od foods. And it says it's ok to try the meats and things @ 6 months. I think the big thing to watch out for really is allergies.

Stage 1 and stage 2 are the same consistency. The only differences are that stage 1 are single ingredient foods in smaller amounts, and stage 2 have more variety and combine a couple of ingredients into one (i.e. blueberry applesauce). So if she has been exposed to all the stage 1 with no allergic reactions and is finishing a whole container and is still hungry you can move onto stage 2. But for those flavors that are new in stage 2, you still need to remember to introduce a new one every 3-4 days.

Stage 2 foods are typically bigger and some are mixtures. So you shouldnt give your baby any stage 1 mixtures until your baby has had all of the foods in the mixture alone to make sure she doesn't have any food allergies to the food. Otherwise you can buy the larger stage 2 single ingredient foods if you just want to give her a larger portion.

I started giving my daughter Stage 2 at 6 months. If she is eating Stage 1 well, then I would try it and see how she does. Of course, you could always ask your pediatrician.

How long has she been eating stage 1? Stage 2 isn't THAT different, mostly the serving sizes are bigger and they are a bit thicker. Buy some, see if she likes it. If she does, go for it. Just nothing with pieces that need chewing just yet.

It depends on her. Does she seem to do ok with the first stage? My kids, I have 3, all were eating 2nd stage about then.

Depends on the baby. Both my babies started eating 2nd stage baby food when they were 4 to 5 months old.
If she is not getting full on what you are giving her you can always talk with her doc to decide whats best.
