First, it sounds like you are under 18. If so, under US law you can void any contract you make.
Because of this no legitimate company is going to do business with you, not unless there are certain procedures put in place.
Also, to be frank, if your father really knew anything about business he would know about this rule. But it sounds like he doesn't.
So because of this I really think you ought to get some professional advice. i would find a local patent attorney in town. I know they are normally busy but you would probably be able to get their attention for a while IF you are NEAT and PRESENTABLE and turn up ON TIME!

Good Luck

Check http://www.bbb.org FIRST. If that's the Davidson company that I'm thinking about, there is a trainload of complaints about them.
Do not show anyone your drawings or model until you have a legally signed and notarized non-disclosure agreement.
You would be best off to contact a _real_ patent attorney.

The time I met with a patent organization, it cost me a little over $500, they said that my invention was 'not viable in the market', and a year later, I saw a version of it for sale in JC Whitney.
Go figure.
Be carefull!!!!!

Call them and set up a meeting. Always follow up on your initiative. The longer you wait, the less appealing you and your idea appear. Take charge. Don't let anyone hold you down. If it doesn't work out, then you know. Otherwise, you will always wonder what might could have been.
