If Paris stole anything, it was Helen's affections, because it was her choice to run off with him. Not a kidnapping.

d3m has it right.
Paris kidnaped Helen, who was married to (King) Menelaus.
Paris did it because Venus promised him the most beautiful woman in his generation if he picked Venus as winner of a stupid beauty contest.
Helen had been forced to pick among of the Greek kings, to prevent all of the Greek kingdoms from going to war over her. The contestants (kings) had to promise to support Helen's choice, whomever it was. So, when Helen was kidnaped, all the Greek kingdoms banded together against Troy, where Paris went.

Trying to remember -- wasn't it the kidnapping of Helen of Troy, the woman with "the face that launched a thousand ships"?

I think it was Helen being kidnapped. But just to be sure, why not read the Ilyad? Or at least read the cliff notes, LOL
