I just don't get it. Why are they so popular? The first time I heard them I thought they had a catchy sound, but nothing special. The lead singers voice is so annoying. But a lot of people really like them. Don't get me wrong. I mean I like rock music.Pearl Jam,Led Zep,The Who,Incubus,The Pillows,STP,The Beatles,Candlebox,The Killers,Foo Fighters,Boston,Coldplay,Pink Floyd, but FOB just seemes so flakey. This is just my opinion. Everyone is entitled to like whatever type of music they want to. It's just....I don't understand why so many people act like they're one of the greatest rock bands ever. I don't get it.

So, can someone explain why they love FOB?
Or if you DON'T like them can you tell me why?

Well, many teen girls like them because pete wentz is hot. Fob does have really catchy songs, but i think a lot ppl like them because FOB is band that cares a lot about their fans. I like them because i only real like rap and FOB reminds me of a rock form of rap.Fob is an amazing band with great songs.

Well, I can give you why I used to like fall out boy... lol.
When i listen to From under the cork tree and Take this to your grave, I find that the music has a certain "element" to it. There is something to Andy's drumming that pulls together the cheesy guitar riffs and whiny voice into a package. A real good package at that. I like how they can go from having a steady rythym with strong chords to having the vocal and one guitar in a second, and there be a transition visibly there. The music flows.... I mean. I loved how you can feel a steady beat, and there's something about the music that keeps you from feeling anything--- like you're searching for some emotion in your life, but you suddenly get so wrapped up in their's, you can sort of soak into the music without any worries.
They carry that punky, melodic emo sound without all the screaming.... It's the kind of stuff where I can listen to the whole CD without skipping a track because it's not really repetitive, and when it is, It's catchy enough that I don't really give a damn.
They lost everything but the unique guitar effects when they went to make their 4th album, Infinity on high. There is no longer a strong, feeling to the music, a "holding my own" kind of sound, but more of a "I need you... but I'm trying to cover it up" kind of thing. It's more vulerable, and some people say it's more musical, but whatever i used to like about them no longer exists... And I can't beleive I'm saying this-- but i've given up all hope that I will be able to make it though the next CD they release... And *tear* they have become posers of a younger version of themselves... trying to pretend that they are still who they were, even though they are not, as they try to appeal to a "greater audience" rather than cater to "The dance of the misunderstood inttelectual adolecent" as it was put in "lars the emo kid".
And if one more person says pete wentz is hot, I'm going to be sick.
Joe is ten times hotter than pete, and they know it!!!!!!!!
And pete is not the singer, he's the bassist. that's part of his appeal, patrick is the singer... omg. DONT LISTEN TO THESE PEOPLE. THEY ARE NOT FANS!!!!!1
That guy's right, it is pop-rock, punk-pop, or powerpop by the way. It's stereotyped as rock because the people who play it look like "rockers".... (ok, well andy is the only one who really looks like a rocker...) And... uh, patrick and pete are completely normal.... the whole group gets sold off as being like pete---- you know, with the tatoos and peircings, and eyeliner....
sorry, just being expressive... as usual.

I love Fall Out Boy they are my favorite band. Honestly, I don't know why so many people like them. I think they are sort of like Backstreet Boys (no not crazy). Just like the Backstreet Boys, I think they will be popular for a couple of years and then sort of quit singing. Most people like them but now they deny that they ever did. I like Fall Out Boy because their music can be both really fun and then really serious. Even in some songs it is both.

I completely agree there! I am getting sick with the newer bands, I like to call them pop-rock. People are acting like they are listening to rock. I actually have a friend that I asked "Do you listen to any rock music?," he responded "Yeah! I listen to FOB."

Its really starting to get annoying to me how people are forgetting about real rock n roll. AC\DC, Led Zeppelin, Iron Maiden. I'm sad to say that these bands say that they are influenced by the greater bands.

they are an okay band. theres nothing special about them, but they have some good songs.
It probably just depends on how much companies advertise their groups. For example N' Sync sucks, but everyone liked them because of all the hype the record companies put out about them. (Fall Out Boy is way better than N'Sync, though)

Nothing is great about fallout boy, they're totally mediocre--mediocre music, mediocre lyrics, bad vocals... They just happened to be heard by enough junior-high school girls that they got the illusion of being popular so people being the sheep that they are thought "wow they must be really good!"

Fallout boy is just another great example of the fact that all you have to do is wear eye makeup sing like youve had your testicles removed by a garbage disposal and knoe a,d and e guitar chords and boom you have a record contract

I like FOB because they have great lyrics and I love Petes voice. I'm not saying that FOB is the best but I can't stand it when people say "this isn't real music". It's my taste of music and if someone don't like it, that's too damn bad

I automatically dislike contemporary bands who wear eyeliner. Also, hate that scrawny little guitarist who likes to go with no shirt to show off his oh-so-cool tattoos.
