Over the past few years I've noticed cardinals flying directly in front of me. In every occurence a strange feeling comes over me, leading me to believe there is some meaning to this. Yesterday one flew in front of my car while traveling 70mph and hit the front windshield leaving a few feathers stuck on my car. Anyone know of a deeper meaning to this?

Nothing happens by coincidence, does it? To understand a deeper meaning of an event you need to analyze it using deeper aspects of your mind thus you need to meditate, or day dream on the subject, for example.
Lets analyze the components:
1. a cardinal = a bird
it might be a symbol of: freedom, or creative expression, hope, or something fleeting--a thought or an idea, a feeling or a concept, and so on. What a bird means to you?
2. a cardinal is red--color red might symbolize love, support and security (1st chakra), anger (seeing red), embarrassment(being red-faced), warning, danger (red light),restriction, red tape, debt (in the red) and more.
What red color means to you? When you read what I wrote, which meaning of red feels right?
The bird flew in front of a speeding car, why? Inattention, suicidal thoughts, or the bird tried to slow you down, to help you, perhaps to save you from a danger or an accident? Which version seems right to you?
Please trust your intuition and after you understand the deeper meaning of each component the whole will become obvious. Good luck!
By the way, I see the event as a message from your loving Guidance, willing to help you if you will but ask, please don't ignore It by speeding.
Thank you for sharing the message.

in some religious views, birds of prey are carriers of the soul to the heavens,
In astrology, a cardinal sign (also called by older astrologers a moveable sign) is a sign of the zodiac that initiates a change of temperate zone season when the Sun makes its annual passage into them.
The word "cardinal" originates from the Latin word for "hinge". Cardinal signs are associated with enterprise and creativity and said to be indicative of a restless, ambitious, competitive, spontaneous and self-motivated character. According to astrology, individuals born under the four Cardinal Signs are quick, active, energetic and enthusiastic, with a great deal of initiative but not so much perseverance. They have an immense desire to win and tend to channel their energies into external events. Extraordinarily enthusiastic in their pursuit of life's experiences, their reaction to events is apt to be immediate which can result in a rather crisis-driven way of life.

The deeper meaning is that the cardinal was unfortunate enough to be flying well under 70 mph and ended up splattered on your windshield...SLOW DOWN before you kill any more innocent creatures.
