The Raiders should sign David Carr and draft Calvin Johnson. That way they would kill two birds with one stone. Franchise quarterback and number one overall pick and an elite wide receiver and number one overall pick. The draft has plenty of decent guards that would patch up the crappy offensive line and voila! a decent offense to go with a pretty good defense. BUT the Raiders will do something stupid, just watch...

JaMarcus Russel, QB, LSU
For the poster who calls Russell "a waste of time", what game were you watching when Russell outplayed the overhyped Brady Quinn in the Sugar Bowl? Russell put up amazing numbers in a RUN ORIENTED OFFENSE! If Les Miles woulda had the stones to open his offense up last season, Russell would have been the clear cut #1 pick all along. You say Russell is going to be the next Maurice Clarett, based on what? He has no character issues. Clarett was a head case BEFORE he even went pro. As for Quinn, he's gonna be the next Rick Mirer, and overhyped QB from Notre Dame who'll be nothing more than a glorified backup. Russell is 6-6 250 and can throw the ball 60 yards with the flick of his wrist. Countless NFL scouts have said that he has the best arm in the NFL..and he's not even in the league yet. Even that moron Al Davis shouldn't screw this one up. Russell is clearly better than Quinn. Period.

depending on what they do with Randy moss. The latest is that kiffen has had a talk with randy and randy seems to be on board with staying a raider. So if randy stays the pick will be JaMarcus Russell. If Randy is traded, then the pick should be Calvin Johnson. Either Way Calvin Johnson is the best player in this draft, and I think the raiders should either find someone to trade with or just go ahead and take calvin and sort it out later. Kindof like how the saints took reggie bush even though they had Mcallister. If you got the 1st pick you got to take the best player overall.

Simple Answer: Calvin Johnson
Fox Sports and ESPN and everyone else just guess based on what they think. None of that matters to Al Davis - the Raiders owner. He draft whoever the f*ck he wants and he wants Calvin Johnson. Look for the Raiders to address their QB need before the draft - possibly Carr or Culpepper (imagine Culpepper and Moss reunited). Then all the sports analysts will have to change their tune. The Raiders going to beef up their OL and whoever they pick up will challenge Andrew Walters for the starting job in preseason.

JaMarcus will be like a steve mcnair in his prime. This guy has an arm, he is mobile, and he makes accurate passes and have good decison making. He would good if the raiders get him a better oline with a TE and another WR to give him more targets to threw to. in college, he had about 4 or 5 target and did very good. He is better than Brady Quin, even though their arm strength is the same but russel is more mobile and more accurate and the raiders think he can get the job done better

JaMarcus Russel because not only does he have what Al Davis likes(good arm, size, mobility)especially when your o-line sucks like theirs does also it might make Randy Moss a great receiver again because of Russels, Caulpepper-like ability.

They should pick Russell but Al Davis has the final say and he'll probably do something stupid like trade down a few picks...

Trying to guess what Al's gonna do is wasting your time. He may not draft Russell just because everybody says he should.
