the cpu is a hp 8665c.i have restore discs but the original cd rom doesnt work.i have installed a second physical cd rom,but when i put in the restore discs,nothing happens.is there anyway to do a restore?

unhook older cdrom drive
make sure second newer cdrom drive set to slave then install
it should then work.

sounds like it has been upgraded, and you'll need an xp disk with sp2 on it to reformat and start over. but windows restore might work, see how far back you can go with it. dates are highlighted.

*IF* you mean the Windows disc won't AutoStart, just go to the new CDROM Drive and type SETUP
