I read a book when I was younger (between the years 1968-1972). I do not know how old the book was then. It was one of those easy read beginning reader books. It was about a little girl who never chose the right close to wear at the appropriate time. She wore her new yellow party dress to the wiener roast and got ketchup all over it. She wore her cowgirl outfit to meet the mayor and so another girl got to hand him the flowers. That is about all I remember. It didnt have alot of color. I do remember the yellow dress.

Here's another one. I think the name of it was The Three Susies or the Three Susans. They are a trio of little girls with the same name and they meet at the beach. Pretty vague but maybe someone out there read it too. Thanks.

The first one sounds like "What Will I Wear?" by Helen D. Olds, 1961. 33 pages.

Summary: "The delicately colored pictures capture both the fun and the disappointments in the life of Pam, a seven year old who arrives at the right places in the wrong clothes."

Could the second one be "The Three Elizabeths" about 3 cousins with the same name (Elizabeth, Elspeth, Beth?). It doesn't really sound like your description but I wanted to post it anyway. I copied this from BookSleuth at abebooks.com: They lived with their male guardian in a grand house called "Pleasance", but guardian lost his cash and went off to darkest Africa? to get more, leaving his wards with a friend - Aunt Betty? All four lived in a tiny house and Aunt Betty made a comfortable home for all and made girls realize there is more to life than luxury. Guardian returns + cash and all is well. I remember Elspeth was a bookworm and her bedroom was decorated in nautical fashion with a knocker on the door. The eldest girl bought a powder blue dress for a dance and Betty gifted her a pleated silk evening bag. I also seem to remember a girl guide bonfire where they cooked pastry "dampers".
