That would probably get you a citation for contempt of court. The only sure-fire way to get out of jury duty is if you have a background in law enforcement. They'll kick you to the curb before you can say voir dire.

I've heard of someone who got out of jury duty very easily.
When asked if they would swear on the bible they said no. And that was it - no more questions asked.
If someone had asked they were going to say "it says in the bible not to swear by things. I follow the bible so i will not swear on it" And it does say that somewhere fairly close to the beginning of the new testament.

Right! Personally, I wouldn't try it.
Actually I would love to do jury duty but I am self employed and it would be a "financial hardship" so I always get out of it.

Man you are some jerk. Jury duty is a priviledge. And feigning being mentally retarded is crass.

It sure would. Straight out of Jury Duty, and straight into a cell for contempt of court.

On the contrary, it would get you thrown in jail for contempt of court. Good luck with that.
