I need a good idea for an April fools prank/joke to play on my almost 9 year old son. I do not want to do anything mean or anyting that will require major clean up. He has a great sence of humor and loves to fool people, so I want to get him before he gets me. Any original suggestions are appreciated.

Make him take a nap around early afternoon and mid afternoon when outside looks like early morning wake him up and tell him it's time to get ready for school. Change the time in the clocks, let him shower and get ready and then when he is done scream "APRILS FOOL!!!" I did that to my wife once and it was hilarous.

If he has his own shampoo, remove it from the container and replace it with something else like cold milk or ice water.
Make him a cake but instead of using cake mix use meatloaf and then ice it using mashed potatoes that you have colored with food coloring.
Wait till he is in the shower and yell FIRE so he will run out naked.

tell him something ridiculous - like you are broke and are gonna have to sell all of his toys to pay some bills,and that from now on ....etc etc etc. if this isn't too mean,i think it would be funny.
