I saw a magazine article once where they painted the balls in bright colours and then put them out in the garden. No faces or other tacky things on them - ew. They looked AWESOME all bright and circular out on the garden path.

MOSAIC!!! Cover them with stained glass, tiles, pennies etc. Put them in the yard and call them "Garden Globes"
Seriously do a search on google images. There are lots of people out there doing this. I would have but i don't have a way to get bowling balls. They look really cute sitting on a lawn or on a stand.
You can also sell them. There are a lot of places out there that sell used bowling balls. Going price is usually $15 to $25.

I can think of a couple creative uses for them right off the bat.
The first thing I came up with is an interesting fake flower planter. Put a flower in each hole and you have a little mini bouquet with you can use the ball now as a new modern art centerpiece. Also, you've seen the lawn orbs right? Well, find the neatest looking ball you have, and put it holes down in a stand in the yard, and you have your own trendy deco!
I wouldn't over do it though, because using more then one of them in any place would start to probably look like you were trying to find a use for them, instead of being creative.

Old bowling balls are useless to today's bowlers. New bowling balls are made of newer materials that react to the lanes better. You might be able to get a couple dollars for them in a yard sale to an inexperienced bowler or to someone for a craft project. I like the lawn bowling idea!

Hello, I am a Bowler and I Think I can help you. First of all you can use them as lawn adornments, entrance markers to your driveway, Drill through them with a long drill bit and stack them for a Bowling ball totem pole, Paint them a solid color and then paint faces on them using the three holes for the eyes and mouth, make them into a lamp (also by drilling them) drill them through and insert a long rope to use as a drifting anchor for a small boat (slows the drift). get som old bowling pins and play "Lawn bowling". Have a bowling ball throwing contest at your next out door party. The final thing to do is, just either throw them out or bring them to the bowling alley and just leave them there.

I have seen people make vases and other "crafty" items out of them. If you garage sale them, you are correct about not pricing them too high, maybe 5-10 buck A lot of people have made creative use of outdated bowling balls. They have been used in home-construction projects for walls and various forms of fences. Bowling balls have been attached to chains and used as battering rams. They have been used as weapons, made into clocks, lamps, fish bowls, doorstops, plant holders, and centerpiece decorations for tables, and used to hold and weigh down everything from paper to ears to boats to pets.
One of the most beautiful uses of bowling balls came when they were used to form the world's largest set of rosary beads.
check out this site. It will give you an idea:

Sell them in a garage sale, 10$ a ball. No use for bowling balls but bowling, unless you can recycle them.

Might as well sell them. They can be re drilled. If they don't sell at your yard sale, pawn them. Might as well make a few dollars.

If you glue mirror tile on them, or tiles, or glass bits, and then grout around the tiles, you can make attractive and decorative gazing balls. It sounds odd, but they are actually really nice folk art.
