because i can - and am only 5'3", so the mole hill kinda looks like a mountain!!!

you've got it the wrong way round. It's 'making a mountain out of a molehill'
And if that was diliberate; the reason for it is because soil is easier to carry than rocks.
Transfer that to human thinking.
