how to write a support letter?

I am going to a camp this summer for 3 weeks. It is a highly honored Christian leadership camp that is very very hard to get into. I was accepted into the camp but now I have to pay for it. Some one told me to write a support letter to my family and friends. Does any one know how to write a good letter? I have never been good at writing, buy I need the funds to go to this camp. Any helpful suggestions would help. I am expecting to get a job this after noon (I got a call about one this morning) but that job will not provide enough for me to go. I really need some help with this

Well if you still have an english book hanging around or better yet the internet can help. Just be open and honest and speak from the heart.
