i am a girl. i can put on make-up and dresses and talk valley girl style with my friends. but at home, i'm a total tomboy. I've got 10 brothers (ages 10 mo. - 19) and we like to play football (tackle, none of this two hand touch stuff) and soccer and basketball, and baseball, and street hockey, and volleyball, among other sports and they don't go easy on me because I'm a girl either. is this wrong for a 17 yo girl?

yeah, i also know how to change a tire and the oil (i help my bro's Jason [19] and Derek [16] when they work on our car). i can name all the parts of an engine and can name the make and model of any car just by looking at it.i know what a hemi is and if the superbowl (or any other game for that matter) is on, don't even bother talking to me. i also skateboard and can do more tricks than the guys at my school. that's pretty weird.

Heck no! I was just the same way.
You are going to be really popular if you ever go to college.

Not at all, unless YOU aren't comfortable with it. Sometimes male relatives get weirded out when female relatives start to grow 'girl parts'. Some turn flat out weird.
It doesn't sound like you have either of those problems, so don't worry. People in contact sports touch other people, that's why they are called contact sports.
Professional dancers get touched all over, on stage, and it isn't considered at all out of the ordinary. It's just the way it is.

all this means is that you are a well-rounded person with varied interests. I have always been like that too, I love to get dressed up in a pretty dress and high heels, but i also love to throw on my sweats and play baseball, or go camping. There is nothing wrong with being both a tomboy and a girly-girl at the same time, actually, it is quite fun!

Come on! You know it isn't wrong for girls to play football! Are you living in the 1950's?
My aunt, who is 44 years old and works for our city's newspaper, is on a professional women's football team, and has been for 3 years.
Who the hell cares if it is 'unbecoming'!?
Football is as much a sport for girls as it is for guys! So is any other sport/activity! Girls who still think that girls should only do 'girl stuff' are the main reason that we still live in such a sexist world. If women aren't supportive of women's liberation, how can we expect men to be?

It's not wrong! I could do the same thing as you growing up, but I grew up with the guys in my family playing sports, and rodeoing (riding bulls, barrell racing, poles, and a whole bunch of stuff.)
It's not wrong because that's just how you were raised. If anyone thinks any different then they are wrong.

no. There's nothing wrong for you to play sports with your brothers. With 10 boys in the house, yeah they are bound to rub off on you. As long as you are having fun, play all the sports you want.

There is nothing wrong with you. I did the same thing I played football in the streets and all the boy stuff. It just makes you tougher. Also, from experience, I am 30, men like women who like this stuff.

WOW.....10 BROTHERS....Cool!! Anyways, there is nothing wrong with you being a bit of a "tom boy".....It's actually kind of cool that you can have fun with your family. You all must be very close and a strong family relationship is VERY SPECIAL. SO try not to question yourself too much. If you enjoy to do all these things with your brothers there is nothing wrong with you at all. Just enjoy yourself and HAVE FUN!!!! Not everyone is as lucky as you to be able to spend time with their siblings!

LOL....of course not, having a vagina doesn't mean you can't play sports at home or anywhere else for goodness sake.
