Yes, if Jury Duty would cause financial hardship, and you can show that, you can get out. I think it's also possible if you need to be away for work during that time. You qualify either way. Your notice card should have info on the subject. If not, call the courthouse and ask.

Call the # on the jury notice and explain the situation. Financial hardship may get you out of jury duty. You may have to have your boss send a letter that you do not get paid for missing work, even for jury duty.

Unfortunately, financial difficulty alone will not get you excused. Almost everyone makes that argument and in many instances, you get reimbursed for gas money and a per diem food expense. It's pennies, but it still prevents that argument from being a strong one.
If you mention you don't understand English well, it may work. Email me via my yahoo answers profile and I'll give you additional info.
I used to work in a criminal defense law firm as an investigator and a trial assistant. I always helped lawyers pick jurors.

It should ask you about your avalibility. If you tell them you are a truck driver, etc., they may let you be excused. Just be honest with them. I do know when I got jury duty for federal court, it asked me the days I was not avalible. I would of gotten paid for my jury duty. Some companies also give you your time lost too.....just depends on the company.

It depends on where you live. In many states, California being one of them, financial hardship is considered in obtaining a release from jury duty.

When you received your documents for jury duty, there should be a number to call. Call them and tell them you work situation and that you will travel. Ask them if it will be a problem and see if you can get out of it.

you can basically just tell them, for whatever case you are bieng possibly selected for, you have a conflicting interest about the case. it would cloud sound judgement.. Example: the case is about someone who killed someone drinking and driving. you basically say you lost a family member to a drunk driver, the lawyer will not let you be a juror

go in and act like you don't understand what they are saying to you. you will be dismissed, but remember what goes around comes around and if I were to ever need a jury I definitely don't want someone on there that doesn't want to be there.

No you cant get out of it, you will be given prior notice to be there. Work does not stop you having to go. You will be financially compensated in full, but have to prove your losses. You can claim all expenses back too.
