I am going to start breeding in a couple of years once my husband is done serving in the military and we have met a guy who is going to build a costum trailer built for me. He is going to need to know width and I was having a hard time finding width measurements anywhere on line, most people are only worried about how tall and long thier minis are.

Minis are all sizes of wide and skinny. It just depends on genetics and how you feed. I have had a very thin mini winni who just right for the breed and I also had a few that were just plain fat. Again depends on the breed . You dont say why you are wondering. Are you thinking of showing or breeding or just trying to find out how much room they will take?
For the most part they do tend to be on the lean side compaired to a horses structure. Their hind ends are anywhere fron 18 to 24 inches across.
You are go to American Miniture Horse Registry and find out more facts.

It varies - depending upon how fat the little buggers get! I'd go about as wide as your truck - if the trailer is wider than the mini it won't hurt - my friend hauls her minis and mine in her regular trailer. She had a home made trailer that was about seven feet wide and it worked well, but she sold it because her "big horse" trailer worked just as well. Her minis are about 2.5 to 3 feet wide - as is mine.
