Experience is the first thing employers want to see. You can have all of the education and certificates and still not be desirable to an employer. Real world experiences and knowledge will get you further. The only time the certificates will come in handy us if that employer doesn't know much about what is involved in doing the job and just wants to say to upper management (who also are clueless) that his employee have these certificates.

It will really only look good to those who don't know anything about computer service.

And that is a lot of people.

Real-world experience is much more valuable than the whole A+ certification in my mind. But there are many people out there that will see the "A+" or the "MCP" or the "MCSE" and make their decision based on that.

So in other words, it is definitely worthwhile. It will get your foot in more doors with that little piece of paper.

The A+ certification isn't ever something that I've had asked about as a potential employee. People have mostly scratched their heads when they see it on my resume.
That being said, it is definitely useful as a base for improving your general understanding of the inner workings of computers and the potential for problems. For example: I use the OSI 7-layer model when doing all kinds of trouble-shooting, whether it's database issues or a desktop that isn't functioning correctly.
Ultimately: yes, it's useful. It may not impress potential employers, but the knowledge that you get from it definitely will.
Good luck.
