why does rap get blamed for all the violence? what about heavy metal. What about these violent movies and tv shows. we live in a violent world. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ydodeyhateus

its not just rap, its everything in todays society, the tv, and etc, if u ask me, there are a few goths or whatever u wanna call it and they are more violent than anyoneh else, but they dont listen to rap. rap probably is apart of it, among other things, but it isnt fair to only point fingers at rap, others are to blame just as much

I'm in my thirties and whenever I hear a good rap song, I feel like driving fast and reckless and beating someoen's asss.
On the same note, I also love Metallica and whenever I pump up The Black ALbum, I drive really fast, develope a short temper and am constantly looking for ho's.
Go figure...

Yes it does. I read a study on this a few weeks ago.
My theory is if a person is rasied by the television/radio instead of their parents, who should teach them right from wrong, they will be influenced by whatever DOES raise them, in this case it would be rap music.
If you live in a culture and listen to a music that tells you it's okay to do things, you're gonna believe it. Especially impressionable youth.

I think that violence in music, video games, and on TV is something parents use as an excuse for things their children do wrong. Its up to the parents to know what their children are doing, not the manufacturers or makers.

Everybody has to make decisions on how they're going to live their life, and if you will allow a certain type a music to make you act out, then you will allow friends to talk you into doing things you really don't want to do.Everybody is accountable for their own actions.
