use lots and lots of creams and lotions so that your skin doesn't peel off like a snake :P
and another lil tip on tanning: use a bit of olive oil to massage your skin before you expose yourself to the sun. i know it smells bad (and sounds weird) but it makes your tan look darker and last longer

go to the tanning bed or if the weather is nice where you are spend 15 minutes a day to maintain your tan. keeping the skin moist with after sun will help prolong the tan, when I would go to Florida in Oct I wanted my tan to last so I used the indoor tanning lotions (the kind you use for tanning beds) and I would go to the tanning bed only once a week this helped maintain the tan with the least amount of exposure.

Use a bath gel or wash instead of soap. that will super help!
