about using different heads for drums..?

i have remo pinstripes on the top side on snare and toms with the original gretch heads on bottom, single ply. i just purchashed remo ebony bass head, on the batter side, this week. can i get away with a different brand on the outer side or will it soud poopy?

There is no need to match the brands between the batter and resonant side of the drums. Many drummers continue to use the stock resonant heads for a long time, because they don't really wear out.

So to answer your question, yes, you can get way with it and it won't sound bad unless it's a crappy or damaged head.
