I like it when i get punished, is this normal?i think it means my parents care about me. you know if they didn't care about me, then they wouldn't punish me, they'd just let me do whatever, but they do care about me, so when i do wrong i get punished. and i like that they care about and love me and i appreciate the fact that i get punished. of course, i don't like actually being punished. i mean, who likes being grounded with no privileges for 2 weeks after staying out after curfew? but next time i want to stay out late, i remember my previous punishment and it keeps me from doing anything stupid. is this normal for a 17 year old. to actually like it when she gets punished (not during, but afterwards)?

There's a big difference between liking punishment and appreciating appropriate corrective measures for misbehavior.
There are many other teens like you, but most of them keep quiet about it to their friends (the appreciating).
They may complain to their friends about the punishment, as expected for 'normal behavior' but respect and appreciate that their parents care enough to act responsibly for their benefit.
It's a sign of a couple relatively rare things in Western society: Parents who raised you correctly, and your becoming mature enough to realize that fact before you are in your mid 20's, which is about the earliest that children realize that their parents weren't senile back then...

It's actually a very positive way to take punishment. You are showing you are very matur eby saying that and showing an understanding that your parents only want whats best and are watching out for you. I am the same way. So no your not weird because i bet DEEP down, all teens feel that way

"but next time i want to stay out late, i remember my previous punishment and it keeps me from doing anything stupid."

I think it's great that you feel that way and understand so much about discipline. You sound very mature. I think you are totally fine and even though other people your age wouldn't admit it they probably feel the same way. I tell that to my daughter sometimes (she's only 8 though) at least I care enough about you. Maybe someday she'll grow up to be understanding like you!

I wouldn't say this is "normal" but you aren't messed in the head or anything. When I was younger I would ask my mom to give me chores, mostly because I always helped out around the house anyways, and wanted my brother to have to help out too.

Most people like clear boundary. Whether they like them or not. People who don't have clear boundary spend a lot of anxiety and energy to find them.or trying to stretch them. It is very comforting to know where your boundary's are. You are just unusual for a teenager to acknowledge this.

I don't like it but after I get over being mad, I understand it and try not to make the same mistake again.

Hmmmmm...I think you're going to be a part of the S&M society. Haha. Just kidding. Good for you, I'm glad you're more mature than MOST people your age.
