The vast majority of people don't want to undermine others, although, there are some very arrogant individuals on Yahoo who I would like to name, but wont. They ask a question, usually in a pompous way, and then respond with an aggressive rant directed specifically at all those respondents who don't agree with their prepared answer. They are nearly always questions requiring an opinion, rather than fact, and are presented like an exam question but they have already decided what the correct attitude should be, and are not really interested in taking on board the opinions of others.

Basically, they are bigoted aggressive showoffs, who try to exploit a little bit of knowledge that they have managed to obtain.

I ask questions to find stuff out - that's how you learn. It's what people do with the information that gives it "value" - when that information is judged.

I only ever ask questions to which I don't know the answer and hope some one else does.

Sometimes. But then if we didn't ask questions how would we learn?
