Fairly clean design. It is effective, which means it is good. I like your choice of typefaces, especially your main logo. There is a blue border around your header, though. You need to get rid of that.

As far as your main feature links on the home page (the large blue buttons) - the rounded corners are a bit too extreme. I would bring those in a little bit, make the curves smaller and a little more subtle.

As far as site copy, you absolutely need to make sure everything is spelled correctly. Your grammar is also very childish ("I have loads of IT professional colleagues"). You are lying if you say your site is not to lure or attract clients - if it didn't matter who was looking at it, you would not be concerned about the quality of the design, and you would not have a resume and testimonial. You may not intend to sign clients directly from this site, but as a portfolio site that showcases your work, it is always going to be representative of you professionally. I would never hire someone who writes like that. The -z suffix substitute for -s plurals is just silly and about 10 years out of style.

The copy overall is way too long. The general rule of thumb for web copy is to take what you have written, reduce that by half, and then reduce it by half again. It's obviously not a hard rule, but rather to make a point - eliminate every unnecessary sentence, and every unnecessary word. Only leave what is absolutely essential to communicate information. Your intro text can be reduced to 2 or 3 short sentences at most.

Usability 101 - never offer users a way to search the entire web from your site unless you are a search engine. Remove the "only search from this site" check box and make your search "Search this site (powered by Google)". If users want to search the web, they will use the search box in their browser or just go to Google.

Also usability - under your portfolio, your links are ASP.NET LinkButtons. It is never appropriate to use LinkButtons in a general-audience web site, only in web applications. This is because a substantial number of users browse the web with JavaScript disabled, and LinkButtons do nothing if JS is disabled. Redesign your portfolio system to use URL links. JavaScript is intended to enhance a working site, not become a necessary and integral part to be able to use it at all.

Why should I check out a web site from someone who can't even spell?

There are plenty of spell checkers available. You could even type out your question in Microsoft Word and run spell check, then cut/paste the corrected text.

Try "thought", "thanks" and "comments". Fix these first.
