Yes, but it really depends on how long is long...Harry potter novels are fairly large but action-packed and clearly many many people have responded positively to that format. However, I find that many very long novels, even when really good ones like A Suitable Boy, involve so many different characters and storylines that I have trouble really getting into the book as a whole. What will happen is that I become engrossed in one storyline and then almost suddenly the perspective or storyline is changed and you are expected to wait to find out what happened to the characters you became attached to. Very long movies occasionally mix storylines this too but an epic can also be done very well, in movie or book format. Perhaps you are a writer?

I do no longer like to read long novels, and I do not recommend people to read novels, as I think that they instead should think more and imagine more about the vicissitudes and the possibilities of their own life. Their life is a novel, everybody's life is a novel, a great novel.
I would like to find and to read short texts of bright and very unusual content. Bright essentiality is my dream.

I like to read long novels, sometimes. This is beacause it's only fun when you're bored, like on a long car trip. Otherwise, I quit reading the book and end up watching t.v.

I love thick books, but they have to be entertaining and enthralling. There is nothing more depressing than sitting down with a long novel and being bored by page 100.

Yes! Current fave is the "Wheel of Time" series, by Robert Jordan. It's up to book 10 (approx. 700 pages per book), and no end in sight. I usually consider this to be one novel, since it's all one story, not separate, related stories.
I just hope he doesn't die or something before finishing!
Edit: I just found out that it will finish with book 12, and book 11 came out in Xmas '05 (hardcover.) Can't wait to see how he ties it all together!

I usually love short ones, but if a long novel attracts me at the first sight, I'll stick to it. That often happens with horrible novels... ghosts, ancient stories...

Love it! I read all the time, and sometimes the short ones just don't last long enough. There are some great books out there...

If it Dickens then no.
I find I forget what he's talking about as his sentences go on so long.
I have read The Blind Assassin by Margaret Attwood, and all the Harry Potter books.
They're all quite long, but very readable.
