I just wondered if there were tests or anything other than asking the neighbors because I plan to buy in a rural area where there really aren't too many neighbors close by.

I care about it because I value my health and I could unknowingly breath in those fumes, etc. and cause alot of respiratory problems, etc., "asif k".....NOW BACK TO THE QUESTION...

I just purchased a home that had been used as a meth lab. It really doesn't affect the new owner. If the place is empty (as mine was) because the residents had been arrested for production, the police clear out anything harmful.

Your best bet is to just clear everything left behind by previous owners when you move in. If the chemicals are no longer in the house, they won't bother you.

I wouldn't buy a house that doesn't have many neighbours, there is a reason for that! The neighbours that are still there might of just get used to it. Try to find a house in a populated area, where the houses are less than 40 years old!

by law, you as the new home owner should be made aware of the facts before you buy the house,. this includes if it were used as a meth lab, ask the realtor, call the police who would have records, ask if it's been cleaned up and how it was cleaned. good luck

How do you know that it doesn't have lead based paint, radon or mold. Well, you hire a home inspector prior to buying it and make the sale contingent on it passing. This will give you some piece of mind that you are not buying a home with a dangerous past.

My house had human and animal waste throughout, i just cleaned it out, no problem...algthough when i remove some of the previously urine soaked carpets, my throat did get sore for a few hours...use respirators like painters use, if you are removing suspect textiles
