I was just wondering about this... I was having trouble researching for the answer. Everytime I search good with the word medieval all I get back is information relating to "games" and "rpg's". I was searching for maybe a response that had to do with a Kings rulebook. If you have sources please list them.

Generally it had to be a lawful execution.

While it's true, the King did have the power to execute people he wanted, he had to do so within the confines of the law, even if it meant at times, forcing the law to wrap around a particular instance which it was never meant to.

A King who executed people without just cause (even if the just cause was fairly hollow) did not find himself king very long-one of his advisors, his guard or even the people themselves would do him in before too awful long.

Depends on the kingdom. Some kings had absolute authority. Others had a determinate body who had to agree with him.
