Sure! I recommend Jennifer Weiner (all of her books) if you haven't read them. Other good ones are Candace Bushnell, Sophie Kinsella and Kate McAllister. Hope you enjoy them!

Well, I'm not quite sure if you are asking for a good book FOR a woman, or a good book BY a female author. I have a suggestion that would answer both. A really great read is a book titled "Outlander" by Diana Gabaldon. The books in this series are really a hidden treasure (available at Borders, etc..)
The story is an "historically correct" drama, and be you man or woman, you'll love it. Quick synopsis? A woman, (a military nurse) just after the end of WW2, goes to Scotland to reunite w/husband she's not seen in 6 years. While walking alone, stumbles upon a hill in the countryside, atop which is a stone circle, and secretly observes some local women performing some sort of ancient druid ceremony there. Goes back later, and passing between the stones is suddenly transported back in time to 1700's Scotland, complete with warring clans, etc. Ok, it may sound weird, but the author makes it totally believable and weaves the story in with actual history. I've never read anything quite like it. It's a fascinating story, great plot, you can't put it down! After the first book you are hooked and have to read the entire series. Hope this helps-

I don't usually like chick lit, but I really enjoyed Can You Keep a Secret? by Sophie Kinsella. Her "Shopaholic" series is supposed to be great as well, especially Shopaholic Ties the Knot, I think.
My absolute favorite work of chick lit, though, is In Her Shoes by Jennifer Weiner. Both the movie and the book were excellent, especially for anyone with a sister...but the book was particularly good, and it dealt with a lot of deeper issues that you don't usually find in this genre.
Happy reading!

I quite enjoyed The Girl's Guide to Hunting and Fishing by Melissa Banks. It's the story of a girl's love life, from her teens to late twenties, and it's told episodically. It's got a good conversational, tongue-in-cheek tone.
I haven't read the book but I really enjoyed the movie The Devil Wears Prada. That's originally based on a book, by Lauren Weisenberger, so it might be worth a read.
A really good place to post a question like this (and get loads more book suggestions) is the forums on www.bookcrossing.com.

Jennifer Crusie"s books are hilarious. Try her first, Welcome to Temptation. And, of course, the ultimate in chick lit is Jane Austen (It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife!).

Farm Fatale is a good one, written by Wendy Holden. Diary of a mad bride is also pretty funny, by Laura Wolf
