My best guy friend asked me to prom even though I'm a freshman. I can't decide if I should go vintage and try to find something different or go classic and wear what everyone else is wearing. Must find cute, mildly cheap dress in a month and a half...Any suggestions?? Also help with accessories, shoes, etc would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know where you are at.... but here,we have a store called claires, lots of earrings and necklaces - pretty cheap... they also have a knockoff store called icing - it's more ALL accessories, hand bags, head bands, jewlery, wallets, shoes, etc. it's a great place to shop. maybe you could search online for your accessories, you could find some really good deals. I'd go vintage, btw, and live it up!! it's great that you get to go with your best friend, and that you get to go at all, since you normally would have to wait for 2 more years. I'd do jeans and a really pretty flowing tunic, a long braided belt, and a cute hat, u know, the ones with the tiny little brims on them... BUT, that's just me. I know, silly, huh. :P (I hate dresses on me.... lol) you could search thru kohls too, they have really good prices on dresses and clothes, and shoes.

Good luck,and have fun!!!

If I were you because you have you're own proms to go crazy on -- you should just where a cute sleek but low cost dress you might find from a non-traditional dress shop at the mall -- I would wait for your own proms to be fancy and creative.

By the way I also think that orangy pink color is so pretty -- and its all over the place now!

I think you should go totally vintage and go to a vintage shoppe. that way, you look totally unique and ppl will complement you all nite. try a dress in a certain era (20's, 50's, 60's, 70's) and go with the look. dont go overboard with the the whole look though! wearing all 20's (red lipstick, too many rhinestones, and curly bob) is going to far! try a few things vintage and do everything else modern to balance it out! hey, goodluck!

There are some really cute prom dresses at Dillards right now and they aren't too expensive. I kind of think you should go vintage and be really different so you stand out, just have fun with it.

All I know is: My daughter decided to go opposite of what everyone else was doing. At the Christmas dance, when everyone was wearing Christmas colors, she went white. White dress, shoes, gloves, stockings, and it was form fitting. She stood out, and it was a hit.

Then, at the Spring prom, when everyone was wearing light colors, she went black. Totally, form fitting, sleek, black dress black stockings, black gloves, everything. She was again a hit.

Dare to be different.

I think you should totally go vintage. It would be cool to be different for one night. After all this night is meant for you to be Cinderella for a change.
