When your sitting in the drivers seat right above your left knee there is a recessed, hinged pull knob that is kind of hidden, just pull that twoards you and that will open the main part of the hood then get out of the car go to the front part of the hood and you will see a plastic tab in the grill pull that and open the hood. You might have to look hard for the hinged pull knob but once you find it you'll be amazed how conveiniant it is

First off- MB didn't make a "430E" in 2005 !
Secondly- If you don't know how to open the hood you don't have any business sticking your nose under it!
If you can afford an MB, take it back to the dealer for all things mechanical .

Sorry, but you are the gloomy owner of a car with a hood you will have to use a blow torch to open. This is the only car I know of that you have to use such drastic measures, you should of gotten a car that you open with a flick of the wrist, by turning or pulling some knob down by the left panel.
