It gives people like us a chance to talk about people like that. It's a common case of people's "eyes getting bigger than their stomachs" and it causes them to live beyond their means. There's a saying that "You can't take it with you" which actually translates to "It's easier to take it from you" which is an interrelation of other problem in the world today, like crime (robbery, assault) because they see something that someone has and instead of them wanting to get in on their own, they take the simplest direct route: take what YOU have. It's a cycle that perpetuates itself within many other cycles. I'll give you an example. I go and finance a Rolex, which is practically a car payment ito some, that's a cycle right there. I'm well aware of the phrase, "Time is money", but to epitomize it by putting it on your wrist? I mean c'mon now, would I have to appease myself by being the official timekeeper everywhere I went to even try to get justifiable use out of that watch? Doesn't make sense. But I'll take it another step. Let's say I still have that Rolex, and it happened to catch the eye of some undesirable person that would want to do me bodily harm just to get that watch. That's another cycle within another cycle right there.
I said that example to say that if people were more pratical, chances are we probably wouldn't be staring a recession in the face, the unemployment rate would be nonexistant, and crime would be at a minimum.

Because these people need approval to feel good about themselves. They feel if they look good and buy expensive things they will be looked upon as intelligent and smart and savy. They will be "cool" so to speak. In with the "IN" crowd.
I shake my head at this....get real everyone...be yourself and stop worrying about what others think of you.
