I bought a home stereo system a few days ago & it has a USB port & a USB source option and can play MP3's. I want to run a USB external HDD through the port to play MP3's like a digital jukebox so I do not have to change out cd's.

Can I & how would I go about doing this if possible?

It is an RCA RS2056. The user manual under technical specifications says:

"Maximum size of mass Storage Class device supported: 20 GB"

Would a 20GB USB extrenal HDD work or is there a 20GB usb Flash drive even available?

on some new stereos you can but not all. the technology is popular so you wont find it that much. its an awesome idea. my stereo connects to my computer so i can play songs threw it. its amazing but my stereo was built for that. to tell you the truth its more of a big boomb box that you can buy at like best buy.

I am not 100% sure if it is going to work on your stereo. Honestly, that may have been what that was designed specifically for.

I would suggest you either tell us what model stereo you want to do this on so we know if it will work, or try reading the directions.

That is probably set up, for a flashdrive. Load the songs on a flashdrive, and try it. Have you read the manual for the stereo system?

It probably won't work as most harddrives require some type of operating instructions or drivers to make than work properly
