Aggravation is a stronger more negative emotion- annoyance is like when your little brother flicks your arm and it becomes aggravation when he won't stop!

(Aggravate: to make worse, more serious. Annoy: persistent but petty irritation)

Being aggravated is a more intense form of being annoyed.
It would depend on each individual what they find annoying and what they find aggravating. Also, one can move from being annoyed to being aggravted...if the annoying situation continues.

I think of annoyance as a little buzz in your head that quickly goes away, but aggravation is a stronger, deeper feeling, like a jaw clenching kind of feeling.
