to use flea spray or bath made for cats on ferrets? My one ferret, (I have 2) is always scratching. I though maybe a flea bath or spray would help him. The other ferret is ok, she scratches occasionally. I haven't found any fleas, but you never know. Thank you for your help.

Typically not... most flea medication advides not using cat meds on dogs or vise versa, so a ferret isn't probably the best idea.

If the 2 ferrets live in the same cage or near each other and only 1 is scratching then it's probably something else. Misc. skin irritation or if scratching is around ears or base of skull/neck a possible ear infection.

Yes it is okay as long as you give your ferret the proper dosage. (probably a little less than a cats).

Your ferret might have a rash or a scab and using chemicals such as flea spray might make it worse so becarful and make sure that it is not the case.

You should check with your vet about your ferrets condition because if your other ferret is not itching ITS NOT FLEAS! it is probably a skin irritation, its common with most domesticated animals. It could be from their diet, stress, surroundings...

If you aren't seeing fleas or flea dirt it probably isn't fleas. Check with the vet to see if you're ferrets have dry skin etc. Do remember that some ferrets are just itchier than others.

Some flea products for cats are safe for ferrets, generally if it is safe for kittens it's ok.

It should be ok, but flea baths really don't work well at all. Take it to the vet and see if you can get something similar to the advantage flea treatment that is used on cats.

Check with the vet about "Frontline" most off the shelf flea products are worthless. Frontline is the one to use. Don't buy the cheap stuff as you will be re-treating in 3 days.

Ask the vet to be sure. It may simply be a case of dry skin which can be very itchy and merely needs a diet change :)

If you want to ask questions and actually get paid for it you should go to these forums:

Every time you post you make money. I just made 20 bucks off it last week.

I wouldn't unless my vet said it was ok. What does the label on the product advise?

I would ask your vet or you could just look on the back of the bottle where it says "QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS" adn cal the place up adn ask them. they will know for sure they get asked those types of questions all the time.

good luck!
