Well my puffers stomach turned black on monday and it has gotten less active is that normal or is it sick and how can i cure it. I am very sad my fish is going to die.

Well, that;s not normal to be sure. I would suspect a bacterial skin infection personally. Since it's only on his stomach, it could be an internal infection that is spreading to the skin. I would suggest you treat with an antibiotic like Maracyn or Furanace as well as feeding medicated fish food. To be totally honest if an internal infection is to blame the odds of saving your fish are pretty small, but if it's a simple skin infection you have a much better chance of saving him.

Well I have had spotted puffers in the past and I had the same problem. I think he is stressed out. Check and see if there is any fish in the tank with him that may be bothering him. If that is not the case then check your water levels, because you do know that spotted puffers are a brackish water fish. Your salinity level should be at around 1010. And if that is not it then get what they call stress coat and put some of that in your tank. On the good note puffers are very strong fish and they can adjust. P.S. make sure you are feeding them snails once a month to help shave down there teeth, because they are like rat teeth and they don't stop growing on there own. I loved my puffers they have a great personality..
