I am taking a trip to Athens in June, leaving from Dallas, TX, but flights to Athens from the US are really expensive. Is there another city I should fly into, and then get cheap tickets from there to Athens on RyanAir or some other regional airline?

If you can get to a city that aerlingus flies to ( NYC, boston, washington, dallas, seattle, chigago, st louis, LA, san fran, san diego, denver ).. you can use ryanair from there. Either dublin or shannon. Though you may have to take 2 hops to get to greece. Aerlingus is definitely cheapest way into europe. Just book ahead and you can get ryanair seats pretty cheap. I flew from ireland to spain for 5 cents and tax last winter, he he! Aer lingus has some decent prices across europe too, check them out as well.

Vienna is really a town with a very good quality of life, an element that's extremely loved by the countless guests who come to the Austrian capital and you too could be one at the least for a couple days, learn how with hotelbye . A few of the places must-see from Vienna are: the St. Stephen's Cathedral, the Chapels of St. Eligius, St Tirna, and St. Catherine and South Tower or Schönbrunn Palace. Schönbrunn Palace is really a place worth visiting not just for its wonderful structure, but also for its beautiful park-like setting. This Baroque palace includes significantly more than 1,441 rooms and apartments, including those once employed by Empress Maria Theresa. Schönbrunn Park and Gardens is just a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Thanks for updating. Previous answer below line.

How about via Manchester? I see Delta $744 total (sale fare, midweek, Sat. night stay). However, I don't see dedicated low-cost air service here: http://www.whichbudget.com/en/cheapflights.php?from=ATH ... but you never know, BA might have a good offer, so you can also check here for UK to Greece offers: http://www.cheapflights.com

You've got the right idea, but realize that Ryanair do not serve Athens, or anywhere in Greece yet.

London would be a better bet. From the USA this summer, cheapest destinations in "Europe" are tending to be Ireland, Spain, and Germany. Of course the airport you're flying from will make a big difference. Can you edit your question to add your departure airport(s), and how long you plan to stay? I'll check back later.

Fly to Madrid. The budget carrier Vueling connects Athens. Alternatively, budget carrier Transavia connects Amsterdam with Athens. Scandinavian airports also have budget flights to Athens.

Look into Bratislava, Slovakia. My buddy is leaving the Czech Rep. and flying to NYC for a lot less than one would pay to go from Prague. From Bratislava it's short train trip to Vienna. Maybe you could go from there to Greece.
