The conservatives will tell you that your rights haven't been damaged. That's untrue. The fact that, for instance, the PATRIOT Act allows the government to detain anyone, at any time, for an indefinite period, without benefit of charges or trial is already a removal of our rights. The fact that the FBI already admits to having abused its authority under the PATRIOT Act is proof of this. I don't have to have been personally affected by this abuse to be outraged by it and think it's wrong. The fact that these abuses are possible is an indication of the whittling away of our rights as American citizens.

We need to be grateful that mr. bush's term is almost over. The war on terror has cost the American public too much in terms of lives lost, money spent and yes, civil rights that have been lost.

Sure ya did. ~.^

Let's see..

Having our mail read: Check
Having our phone lines illegally listened to: Check
An atomsphere of duality (Either us or them): Check
Atmosphere of Nationalism (I support the president therefore I love America and you don't): Check

I'd say that American Civil Rights definitely have a couple of black eyes, some broken ribs..

Things keep up the way they've been going, I could see them going extinct soon.
