A brand new iPod? If so, take it back. If it's used, then you might have gotten suckered, but it's possible the battery is completely dead and won't hold a charge. You can take it to an Apple store if you have one nearby and they can have the battery replaced, or you can ship it to Apple directly, but neither of these options are going to be cheap. You'll probably end up spending about as much as what you paid for it in the first place.

You might also try the 5 R's. Link below

If you can see the timer playing then it could be a problem with the volume or mute settings...to turn up your volume once a song is playing move your finger clockwise around the circle in the center of your ipod. Your mute settings can be accessed through the settings button from the main menu.

make certain that the form of music records you're putting in are suppoerted via the shuffle . see in the experience that your headphones are no longer broken and likewise make certain it particularly is charged if this would not artwork then it must be defective if so the warrenty ought to cover it and you gets a sparkling one (purely as a dash sansa sells an mp3 participant for a similar value yet has a exhibit screen and you will hear to the radio and is arround a similar length of the oldr form of shuffles)

this happens when you just copied all the files directly to the music folder, you need to install itunes and transfer them using it otherwise they wont work because they are not in the ACC format. Format your ipod and reinstall the music, go to 'My Computer' right click 'ipod' drive and select format. put the music files using itunes and presto
