Yes many people have that. I was in 5th grade with a guy named Jon who had one blue one brown.
Three main elements within the iris contribute to its color: the melanin content of the iris pigment epithelium, the melanin content within the iris stroma, and the cellular density of the iris stroma. And there are 4 genes that determine it that have to be in agreement. If all are blue, you have blue eyes. If there is a mix of brown and green, you have hazel eyes.
Your eye color is developed in the first couple years--all baby's have blue eyes. But you can even get a disease as an adult that will cause the malanin to change.
Having one eye one color and one the other is called Heterochromia. There can be a number of causes to this including Waardenburg syndrome.

Yes. The condition is called Heterochromia. I know of a colleague who has this condition. You can read more about it in the link that I sent.

YEAH! I learned something new today. The condition is called Heterochromia. We always called it dog eyed around here because it is so common among some breeds of dogs like border collies.

Yeah, I dated a girl with that condition at University. She was very pretty and very intelligent, but her eyes were different colors. Nothing was wrong with her, just kind of like a birth mark I guess.

Yes, it happens. I understand Tom Smothers has this, as does Jane Seymour.
Even more rare than that, I think, is someone who has truly gold colored eyes. I have only met one guy who has that.

Do you mean from birth? It happens. More often than not, it happens from an injury.
Singer David Bowie has two different colored eyes from a fight he was in as a teenager.
