I went out on Vacations for one month, then i started to use mi laptop normally and horizontal lines appear and disappear, sometimes just can't work, sometimes desn't bother. Last week no horizontal lines... but now the problem it's the same. My Laptop seems to overheat a little bit than normal but the fan is running. My Laptop is 4 years old and had any problems before.

Bad news, you probably need to replace the screen, but *beware* that it would be very expensive, and would probably be cheaper to buy a new laptop.

I had an IBM with the same problem! I didn't need to replace the screen, I just tapped lightly on the back of the screen and it went away. Mine did it when someone would squeze it, like when I took it out of the bag or something. so just try tapping softly but firmly on the area behind the lines
