It doesn't need to be increased for any reason. 160kbps is perfectly fine. Increasing it will not make it sound better.

There is not a way to add increase the kbps on the file without reripping it from the original CD. The kbps indicates the amount of data there is for the file and it is not possible to just add more to a lower kbps file because the information is not there.

download and use audacity. It's free and very powerful for audio manipulation. Just open the file, change the kbps rate, and export it again as mp3

You can't increase the bit rate of an mp3 track. How the song was sampled and digitized from the beginning when it was in analog form is what determines that rate.

y would u wanna do that? you wont gain quality cause its already been done at that lower quality....the number will just be bigger, with no diff in sound..but if thats what u really wanna do

Try using Audacity or Electronic Cosmos mpeg suite:
