Yes, he's gonna be punished. His motives and intentions were very good. Poverty and corruption are the two biggest problems in the Philippines today. Also, he must be commended for his courage to stand up and voice his concerns because it really takes something like that to catch people's attention.
However, the way he went about it was totally wrong. And he knows this also. This man has been involved in other similar protests in which his motives were good but with bad execution of his motives. Pure motives do not excuse crime.
Despite how hopeless the situation looks, the Philippines can still change. If government officials AND the citizens band together to end corruption, there might be a chance in which poverty can be alleviated. Poverty may never disappear, but ending corruption and taking action is definitely a big step in the right direction and will help with the problem of poverty.
Yes, this man is guilty and should be punished for his crimes. However, we should take the message he was trying to send out seriously.

He should be punished.
He made a crime against humanity. He inculcated in the mind of those 23 young and innocent kids hatred and violence. In a morning show this morning, the Philippines has been a laughing stock once again because of that incident - hopefully the Philippine government punish him because this is not the first time he did nuisance thing.
God bless those children. God bless the Philippines.

Poverty is no excuse to do violent criminal attacks on people. I can understand if a man steals food because he is hungry. I don't condone it, but I understand it. But a person raping, robbing, and killing people just because they are poor is no excuse. And don't give the your an American you wouldn't understand excuse. I've been poor before I scrubbed floors, dug ditches, and did other crap work for living, and not once did I break the law or blame others for my plight. I never gave up on myself, through hard work, and persistence I rose above it.

It was said in the news that he will be sentenced to prison forever. I wasn't able to watch the full detail though.
